"From aspirations as a golfer to dreams of a musician"

Liz Cooper was going to college in Baltimore, Maryland on a golf scholarship, but in 2012, she decided to leave college and move to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a musical career. After her move, she got a job at a country club where she met other aspiring musicians. Some of them helped her make her debut EP titled Monsters in 2014. Songs from this EP include "Thieves," "Booze and Cigarettes," and "Month of June." Soon after this EP release, Ky Baker (drummer) and Grant Prettyman (guitar) came together with Liz and became know as Liz Cooper and the Stampede in 2014.

In March 2016, the trio released the four track EP titled Live at the Silent Planet. Tracks from this EP include "The Night" and "Outer Space." The band went on to release another four song EP titled Liz Cooper and the Stampede on Audiotree Live in October 2016. Songs on this EP include "Mountain Man" and "Hey Man." These releases gained them a following and opened a path for them in the rock and indie music scene. The trio were performing at clubs and festivals like Austin City Limits Festival and the BottleRock Festival in Napa California.

In 2017 the band released a single that has two songs titled "Motions" and "Fondly & Forever." Liz Cooper and the Stampede's music is characterized by a blend of rock, folk, and psychedelic elements. Her songwriting often dives into themes of self-discovery, nature, and personal experiences. Influences from classic rock, 60s and 70s folk, and modern indie rock can be heard in her work. Artists like Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, and contemporary bands such as Warpaint have inspired her musical style.

Liz Cooper and the Stampede released their 11 song debut album, Window Flowers, in 2018. The album was well-received, showcasing Cooper's distinctive voice and songwriting skills. Tracks like "The Night," "Mountain Man," "Kaleidoscope Eyes," and "Hey Man" highlighted her ability to merge lyrical skills with catchy melodies and complex instrumental arrangements. The album's success helped the band gain a wider audience and critical acclaim. Also in 2018 Ky Baker left the band and was replaced by Ryan Usher.

The band was touring and were supporting acts for bands like Houndmouth, Bermuda Triangle, and Deer Tick among others. In the summer of 2019, they performed at Newport Folk Festival, Forecastle Festival, and Lockn' Festival.
By the fall of 2019, Liz decided to make a change and moved from Nashville to Brooklyn, New York. She decided she needed to make a change and as a child, Liz had always wanted to live in New York City. Her move from Baltimore to Nashville and then to New York, and her growth as an artist, reflect her dedication to her skillfulness and her willingness to explore new musical territories.

In 2021, Liz decided to drop the Stampede from the band name and just go with Liz Cooper. In 2021, she released her second album, Hot Sass. This album marked a departure from the more folk-oriented sound of her earlier work, embracing a grittier, more rock-oriented aesthetic. The album received praise for its boldness and raw energy, showcasing Cooper's versatility as an artist. Songs like "Slice of Life" and "Motorcycle" exemplified this new direction, featuring heavier guitar riffs and more assertive vocals.

She released a four track EP in 2022 titled Soft Sass. Tracks from this EP include "My Oh My" and "Crazy Feeling." Liz Cooper has made a significant impact on the indie and rock music scenes. Her ability to blend genres and create a unique sound has set her apart from her peers. She has been praised for her authenticity, both in her music and her approach to her career. Cooper's work continues to resonate with a growing fan base, and her influence can be seen in the rising popularity of genre-blending artists in the contemporary music landscape.

Fans eagerly anticipate her future projects, as she consistently pushes the boundaries of her musical expression. We will continue to follow along and bring you any new updates we find.
