Today we bring you The Black Moods, an American rock band from Tempe, Arizona, that mixes classic rock influences with a modern twist. Their music is full of big guitar riffs, powerful vocals, and energetic drumming, making them stand out in today’s rock scene. The band was formed by Josh Kennedy (vocals/guitar), who grew up in Missouri but moved to Arizona to chase his music dreams. There, he met Chico Diaz (drums), and they clicked musically. Later, Jordan Hoffman (bass) joined, completing the lineup. Their name comes from a book about Jim Morrison (lead singer of The Doors), which described his dark moods as "black moods."

Their music is classic rock at its core, with electric guitar riffs and powerful beats, but with a modern twist. If you’re into legendary bands like Jimi Hendrix or Creedence Clearwater Revival, or even 90s bands like Counting Crows, you might love their vibe. Think catchy guitar riffs, bluesy vibes, and lyrics that make you want to sing along. The Black Moods are not about reinventing the wheel, but rather refining and revitalizing the timeless elements of rock and roll.

In 2012, the trio released their self titled debut album. This album has 10 songs on it that include "Can't Sleep at Night," "Give It to Me," "Get off My Back," "Don't Let Them Get You Down," "The Only One," and "Judge Me." This album introduced their raw rock sound and laid the foundation for their musical identity. The Black Moods released their second album titled Medicine in 2016. This album has 12 tracks on it that include "Someone To Save Us," "Say It For the Last Time," "So Good," "Can't Sleep," "Within Without," and "Whenever It Rains." This album helped them gain a bigger following.

The band released their next album titled Sunshine in 2020. This album has 10 songs on it that include "Bella Donna," "Whatcha Got," "Dirty Mess," "Lack of Love," "Throwing Shade," and "Home." This album was a big hit with a couple tracks making it to the Billboard rock charts. In 2022, The Black Moods released their latest album titled Into the Night. This album has 12 tracks on it that include "Youth Is Wasted On The Young," "Hollywood," "Leadin Me On," "Junkie Excuses," "Two Kinds Of People," and "Seen Enough." This album is packed with hard rock and bluesy tunes that fans seem to be enjoying.

In 2023, they got to collaborate with Robby Krieger, the legendary guitarist of The Doors, on a special version of Roadhouse Blues. This was a huge moment for them, showing that they were earning respect from rock icons. The Black Moods are known for their explosive live shows. They’ve toured across the U.S., playing at big festivals and even opening for Whitesnake!
