Today we take a dive into the career of Daniel Romano, a Canadian artist, producer, and performer based out of Welland, Ontario. Best known for his incredible solo work, Romano is also a member of the band Attack in Black and has been known to collaborate with multiple other acts, including Julie Doiron, Frederick Squire, and Dallas Green. On top of all that, Romano is a part-owner of the independent record label, You've Changed Records. I'm telling you, this guy has a busy schedule.

Aside from his love for music, Daniel Romano also does visual art. He has completed designs for a number of different people, projects, and even bands. It was sometime in 2010 that Romano released his debut album as a solo act, coming out with a soothing country rock vibe; this album would only be the beginning of Daniel's solo career. Over the years, he would experiment with his sound, creating a '70s rock sound with a blend of punk rock, garage rock, psychedelic, and soul, ultimately releasing fourteen albums to date. Daniel Romano shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Daniel's 2011 album "Sleep Beneath the Willow" was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, and in 2013, he was nominated again with his album "Come Cry With Me." His album "If I've Only One Time Askin'" was nominated for a Juno Award in 2016 for Adult Alternative Album of the Year. Daniel has had many career highlights; we may not hit them all. However, one of the special moments for fans was on January 4th, 2018, when Daniel Romano released two albums on the same day, with no publicity, surprising fans with "Human Touch" and "Nerveless." Two albums that would go on to be fan favorites.

Combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, Daniel released several new albums featuring new material and stuff from his archives, working with his backing band and collaborating with his brother Ian on an EP. In May of 2020, he followed up the score of album releases with "Forever Love's Fool," a 22-minute progressive rock track, recorded with Danny Carey from the band Tool.

Daniel Romano continued to release more music, including a live album titled "Fully Plugged In" and a full studio album titled "Cobra Poems" in 2021, and his album "La Luna" in 2022. Which brings us to his latest release, "Too Hot To Sleep," released on March 1, 2024. Daniel and his band performed 92 shows in 19 different countries in 2024; on social media, he spoke about his first stops in Hungary and Poland. The next time someone questions the lifeblood in rock 'n' roll music, point to Daniel Romano.
