Still Defying Gravity in 2025

(Artist Report)

Written by:  Cody Denning

Today, we’re writing about the incredible band Muse! The rockin’ trio—Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard—has been bending genres and blowing minds for over three decades. In 2025, they’re still proving they’re rock ‘n’ roll juggernauts.

The band’s most recent release was Will of the People in 2022, a snarling, dystopian banger rallying their fanbase around a freedom movement. The album hit Number 1 in the UK, proving not only the power of the people but also that Muse can still top charts while singing about revolutions, globalists, and NFT tech. Singles like “Won’t Stand Down” and “Kill or Be Killed” brought back their early, riff-heavy edge, with Bellamy’s falsetto slicing through like a laser. Fans ate it up, and the Will of the People World Tour? A spectacle of drones, pyros, and giant Orwellian busts torn down onstage. Classic Muse chaos.

In 2023, they celebrated Absolution’s 20th anniversary with a deluxe reissue packed with live cuts and demos, reminding everyone why tracks like “Hysteria” and “Butterflies and Hurricanes” still rock. More recently, they popped up on Zedd’s 2024 track “1685,” lending their prog-rock heft to an electronic banger—a move only Muse can pull off without blinking.

As of April 2025, there’s no confirmed word on a tenth album, but Bellamy’s been teasing “a shift” in interviews, hinting at something rawer, maybe even a return to their Showbiz-era roots. On X, fans are buzzing about cryptic studio snippets Dom Howard posted last month. If we had to guess, Muse is cooking something massive.

Muse isn’t just a band willing to make a stand; they’re a commercial beast. They’ve moved over 30 million albums worldwide, with Black Holes and Revelations (2006) still their top seller at 1.2 million UK units alone, per Official Charts. “Supermassive Black Hole” remains their biggest single (580,000 combined sales), though “Uprising” and “Feeling Good” aren’t far behind. Spotify clocks them at 16.5 million monthly listeners, and their catalog streams are a masterclass in longevity. Absolution’s music still plays like it was released yesterday.

When it comes to tours, Muse puts in the hours. A 2024 industry study crowned them the UK’s hardest-working band, with 1,248 overseas gigs and 420 UK shows under their belt. One song—likely “Starlight” or “Uprising”—reportedly netted them £2 million. That’s not pocket change. This band is on a mission.

Muse doesn’t play by anyone’s rules. In an era where many rock bands chase TikTok trends or fade into nostalgia acts, Muse is still writing concept albums about AI overlords and interstellar heartbreak. They’re the rare breed of artist carving their spot in the musical mountain, not only with their sound but also with their message.

If those studio teases are real, 2025 could see new Muse material by year’s end. Bellamy’s talked about wanting to “strip things back” while still pushing boundaries, which could mean anything from acoustic ballads to a rock opera about quantum physics. Whatever it is, expect it to be loud, weird, and unmissable.

They’re also rumored to headline festivals next summer—Glastonbury’s name keeps popping up after their 2016 set melted faces. With their work ethic, don’t be surprised if they announce another world tour. These guys don’t rest.
