Ladies and gentlemen, today the Soundwave report is on the band, High Desert Queen, coming out of Austin, Texas. These guys resonate with the sounds of Desert rock, also known as stoner rock, a genre inspired by legends. High Desert Queen began with a blast of shows and a couple of single releases. After that, the band was quickly picked up by Magnetic Eye Records, and things have been rolling from there.

High Desert Queen was put together by Ryan Garney and guitarist Rusty Miller. The two found drummer Phil Hook and bass player Morgan Miller. From there, the Texas desert rock sound was complete. After the band's first few performances, they released their first notable single, “The Mountain vs The Quake,” which hit Spotify on December 11, 2020.

It was not long after the band's first release when they were contacted by the artist relations of Ripple Music, Rob Nicholson, better known as Blasko, bassist for Ozzy and many other acts. High Desert Queen quickly signed with Ripple Music and began working on what would be their debut album. On October 15, 2021, the band released “Secrets Of The Black Moon,” which included successful songs like "Heads Will Roll" bringing massive rock energy to the band's live shows as well.

With a busy tour schedule, the band continued to build a name for themselves. On April 17, 2023, the band released a single titled "Black Moon," building anticipation for what would be the band's first EP, “Turned To Stone: Chapter 8 - The Wake.” Not a normal EP, this six-song release featured three songs from High Desert Queen and three from the band Blue Heron. Perhaps we will dive deeper into that story in the future. However, this EP would be the band's last release with Ripple Music.

This was not the end for the band but more of a new beginning. Working hard on their sophomore album, they began communications and settled a contract with Magnetic Eye Records. On May 31, 2024, they marked the release of the album “Palm Reader,” and it has been proving successful since. By September of 2024, the band hit the road up the East Coast into Canada and back down through the Midwest, completing a full USA tour. They performed in a supporting role for the legendary Dozer. The band also ran a full EU tour named "Have You Seen High Desert Queen Palm Reader Tour," which was a great success.

High Desert Queen has now announced they will be going overseas in 2025 to support Greenleaf in another massive tour. The situation is looking bright for the future.
