Today we are covering Philadelphia’s very own, Low Cut Connie. This is a band with a great sound that has been rocking for well over a decade. On May 24th, 2024, the band released a new single titled "ARE YOU GONNA RUN?" featuring artist Little Steven, letting the world know the band is still very active. Adam Weiner, the band’s frontman and driving force, is on a mission to bring back grit, authenticity, and rock 'n' roll spirit to the public eye.

Adam Weiner is a man who honed his craft on the streets of New York City as a solo act. Before he even formed Low Cut Connie, he was out there paying his dues, sharpening his performance and songwriting skills. When the band Low Cut Connie finally emerged, it was an unreal feeling for Weiner. The band's first album, Get Out the Lotion, broke ground with fans and sent the band on the road. Recorded in a Gainesville garage, it came as a surprise when the album caught the attention of critics. Robert Christgau, one of the sharpest minds in music journalism, gave it an A−. Ken Tucker couldn’t help but praise Weiner’s "buzzsaw yowl." This was rock music, unfiltered and unapologetic.

Call Me Sylvia, their second album, took the band’s sound to bigger heights with stronger energy. By this point, Weiner was driving this machine forward, and, unsurprisingly, the critics were loving it. Metacritic gave it an 80%, AllMusic praised it, and even Rolling Stone threw in a glowing review. The band was just getting started on its career path.

The band's fourth album, Dirty Pictures, released in two parts, showcases some of their best work. It channels raw energy reminiscent of the great rock legends. The album’s single, "Beverly," made the list of the 50 Best Songs of 2018 and topped Philadelphia’s WXPN charts. Even public radio stations across the country embraced Low Cut Connie’s rock-forward sound.

In 2020, the world stopped for COVID—but not for Low Cut Connie. With the pandemic shutting down live music, Adam Weiner transformed his living room into a rock-and-roll haven. His live-streamed show Tough Cookies became a sensation, reminding fans that even in the darkest of times, rock and roll is alive and well. The New Yorker named Weiner "Pandemic Person of the Year" for his relentless energy and spirit during this unprecedented time.

Tough Cookies wasn’t the only thing to come out of 2020. Low Cut Connie also released the album Private Lives, and when it was time to get back on the road, the band came back strong with another album. On September 8th, 2023, Low Cut Connie released ARTDEALERS, showcasing the band’s evolving sound and dynamics.

In 2024, Low Cut Connie has turned ARTDEALERS into a film. The band released a social post announcing a tour schedule on September 8th. This tour includes multiple film screening stops, with the national film-on-demand release happening October 1st, followed by a string of full-band live performances. You can find the full tour schedule and tickets on the band’s website.
