"the solos career of Kyle Thomas"

let's dive right into the rock 'n' roll! We are talking about Kyle Thomas, better known as King Tuff. This guy's been in the trenches, crafting tunes that blend glitzy glam with raw punk energy, and he's not slowing down.

Back in '06, Thomas burst onto the scene, self-releasing his debut album amidst gigs with Feathers and J Mascis' Witch. But it was 2008's "Was Dead" that really cranked up the volume, pulling from power pop, British Invasion vibes, and a touch of psychedelic fuzz—cooked under the heat of a mini-mart lamp, no less!

Fast forward to 2018, and Thomas was done with the wild party vibe. He took a hard left turn with "The Other," diving deep into introspection and toning down the noise. This evolution continued with "Smalltown Stardust" in '23, a gutsy move towards guitar-less indie pop, co-crafted with Sasami Ashworth.

Now, Thomas didn't just stumble onto the stage with a guitar. Nah, he adopted the moniker King Tuff as a nod to King Tut, mixing initials and iconic imagery. From there, he cranked out hits like "King Tuff" in 2012 and "Black Moon Spell" in '14—blending retro pop and funky garage vibes like nobody's business.

But even with all that success, Thomas felt the grind of the road. He stripped it back, penning soul-baring songs that resonated solo on an acoustic. "The Other" was a testament to that shift—a psychedelic journey backed by heavy hitters like Ty Segall and Jenny Lewis.
Back in Los Angeles post-tour, Thomas found inspiration in his roots—Brattleboro, Vermont—and began spinning tales of growing up. Enter Sasami Ashworth, a collaborator who helped him weave a tapestry of cellos, violins, and keys for "Smalltown Stardust." They, alongside Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, formed a creative hub during the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, proving that even lockdowns couldn't stifle their musical mojo.

We look forward to what King stuff has in store for 2024 and future records. We will be here to keep you informed.
