Stone Senate is a rising force in the world of Southern rock, blending traditional influences with contemporary sounds. They have been making waves in the music scene with familiar southern rock and southern bluesy sound. Today we are talking about the band's history, musical style, notable performances, and future prospects.

Stone Senate is based in Nashville, Tennessee, a city renowned for its rich musical heritage. The band was formed in 2012 by a group of seasoned musicians, each bringing their unique influences and extensive experience to the table. The band consists of current members Clint Woolsey (lead vocals), James Edwards (lead guitar), Ted Hennington (rhythm guitar), Paul Zettler (bass), and David Zettler (drums). The two brothers, Paul and David, along with James, grew up in Meridian, Mississippi where they played and performed in the music scene. Ted grew up around both Meridian and Nashville and Clint grew up and played music in Nashville.

The groups Dual lead guitars often harmonize, creating a rich, layered texture and Clint Woolsey's powerful voice is a hallmark of the band’s sound. While the rhythm section, consisting of bass and drums, provides a solid backbone, often featuring driving beats and dynamic grooves and their lyrics often explore themes of love, life on the road, and personal struggle, resonating with a wide audience. The band’s sound is often described as a heavier version of Lynyrd Skynyrd crossed with The Allman Brothers Band. However, Stone Senate is not a retro act; they take inspiration from their influences to create a modern rock sound.

In 2014, Stone Senate released their debut EP titled Stone Senate 1. This EP has six tracks on it that include "Hell I Wanted," "Right Side Up," and "Love's A Disease."This release garnered local attention and laid the groundwork for their future success. The band released their first full-length album titled Star City in 2016. This album has seven songs on it that include "Cemetery Song," "Over You," "Hurricane," and "Lazy River." This release helped them continue to grow their following.

One of their most memorable moments was playing at the Whiskey a Go Go club in Los Angeles in 2018. How Exciting!!! The band then released a five track EP in October 2021 titled Dusk. Tracks from this EP include "Down," "Against the Light," and "All the Broken Pieces." Stone Senate then released another EP titled Dawn in 2022. This one has six songs that include "Dead and the Dying," "Good to Go," and "Always Never Fades." The band believes in writing songs that are both radio-friendly and thought-provoking. Stone Senate is known for their electrifying live performances, which have earned them a dedicated fanbase. They have toured extensively across the United States, performing at renowned venues and festivals. Just a few of them are Whiskey Jam (Nashville, TN): A regular fixture at this popular local event, Stone Senate has often played to packed houses, helping to build their reputation in their hometown. Also Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (Sturgis, SD): Their performances at this legendary rally have exposed them to a broader audience, cementing their status as a powerful live act. And lastly, Rocklahoma (Pryor, OK): Sharing the stage with major acts in the rock and metal genres, Stone Senate has showcased their ability to attract large festival crowds.

In 2023, the band released a couple singles titled "Ghost" and "Buddy's Song." Rumor has it that a new album is in the works for a release in 2024. We will bring you any new updates we find. Stay tuned!
