"98 to current, A hard rock musical warpath topping charts and crossing paths with legends"

In 1998 came a band named The Datsuns. Out of Cambridge, New Zealand. This band got their start performing in battle of the bands and supporting The Helicopters. By 2000 they had lined up a show with Canadian band The Smugglers. These high level performances would help build a following behind The Datsuns. In August of 2000 they released their first single, "Super Gyration". This rolled out exclusively on 7-inch vinyl and sold out quickly.
Later on in November of 2000 The Datsuns supported The White Stripes.

2001 The Datsuns toured Australia and relocated the band to London to reach a wider market. By 2002 the band had begun reaching the press, appearing John Peel’s program on BBC radio and also hit the cover article in NM. July of 2002 the band signed a contract with V2 Records, this label later sold to Universal Music Group in 2007 however that is a story for another time. October of 2002 the Datsuns Released their debut Sejlf-Titled album which hit number one on New Zealand charts and 17 on the UK charts.

This sparked a musical war path for the band, after finishing up their 2002 tour the band won multiple awards including “NME’s Best Live Band” and New Zealand Music Awards for “Best Album” , “Best Group” and “Breakthrough Artist”. The Datsuns performed at the at the legendary Ozzfest in 2003 on the main stage supporting Ozzy Osbourne and many other mainstream names.

2004 came with the release of The Datsuns second studio album, “Outta Sight/Outta Mind” this album was produced by the great John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. The album reached no. 7 in New Zealand, top 50 in Australia and top 60 in the UK. The crew didn’t stop there, hitting the main stage at Big Day Out Festival and even opening for Metallica on the Datsuns Australian tour. pats Ulrich had previously praised The Datsuns on the debut of Headbangers Ball.

Smoke & Mirrors, The bands third album came sometime in October of 2006. Smashing the top 20 of the New Zealand Charts. After the albums release Osment was replaced on drums by Ben Cole, also from The Datsuns hometown of Cambridge. The band relocated to Germany to farther extend their fanbase and completely a tour of Europe to promote the new album. The Datsuns managed to sell out the majority of their European dates.

Headstunts was released in 2008 and was The Datsuns fourth album. The band set off on a tour hitting Australia and North America.
Recording and releasing multiple singles like “Human Error” and “Gold Halo” it wasn’t until October 2012 when we would see the next Datsuns album release, “Death Rattle Boogie” blew everyone away.

The Datsuns sixth studio album, “Deep Sleep”was released in October 2014, which reached New Zealand's top 30 on the charts following with massive support around the world. In March of 2016 The Datsuns toured Japan for the third time. After returning home in late 2019 the band had took sometime off the road.

After a couple years The Datsuns broke the silence in February 2021 the band released the single "Brain To Brain": their first new music in seven years and a lead single for the album “Eye To Eye” which was released on 28 May 2021.
