"The British indie rock band from Llandudno, (New album Comming sometime in 2024)"
The band was originally formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Van McCann, guitarist Billy Bibby, bassist Benji Blakeway, and drummer Jon Barr in 2007. They started performing in small venues in their hometown and would open for their friends' bands. The band also played in car parks after other performers had finished. They quickly gained attention for their raw energy and passionate performances. Catfish and the Bottlemen were runners-up in the 'North Wales Battle of the Bands' in 2009. In 2010, Bob Hall became the band's drummer, replacing Jon Barr.
In 2013, the band was signed by Communion Music record label. Under this label, they released three singles titled "Homesick," "Rango," and "Pacifier." They then went on to sign with Island Records in 2014. Under this new label, the band released their next single titled "Kathleen." During the summer of 2014, Billy Bibby decided to leave the band and was replaced by Johnny Bond. In September 2014, Catfish and the Bottlemen released their debut album titled "The Balcony." This album has 11 songs that include "Homesick," "Cocoon," "Fallout," and "Sidewinder." This album was well-received and propelled them into the mainstream music scene.
Catfish and the Bottlemen released their second album titled "The Ride" in May 2016. This album has 11 tracks, including "Twice," "Soundcheck," "Emily," and "Outside." With this album, they continued to build on their success and showcase their evolving sound and songwriting talent. On June 3, this album reached #1 on the UK Album Charts. The band performed at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, which was their largest headlining show. In July 2017, the band was the headliners at the first Community Festival in Finsbury Park, London.
In April 2019, they released their third studio album titled "The Balance." This album also has 11 songs, including "Longshot," "Fluctuate," "2all," and "Conversation." This album further solidified their place in the music industry, and they received widespread praise. At the 2021 Reading and Leeds Festival, Catfish and the Bottlemen headlined their first performance ever at this event. Bob Hall announced in September 2021 that he was leaving the band, and then in June 2022, Johnny Bond also left the band.
One of Catfish and the Bottlemen's greatest strengths is their electrifying live performances. Known for their high-energy shows and McCann's charismatic stage presence, the band has built a reputation as a must-see act. Whether performing in intimate club settings or headlining festivals, they deliver their songs with passion and intensity, wowing audiences and leaving a lasting impression.
Catfish and the Bottlemen released the single "Showtime" in February 2024. This is from their upcoming fourth album. They are currently touring through the UK and North America throughout 2024. We will continue to follow this band and bring you any new updates we find.
