Swedish rock band Blues Pills have been making waves since their formation in Örebro in 2011. Comprising four talented members, the band released a series of EPs and singles before signing with the German record label Nuclear Blast. Their self-titled debut album, Blues Pills, released in July 2014, marked a significant turning point in their career, garnering impressive attention throughout Europe.
The origins of Blues Pills trace back to 2011 when half-brothers Zack Anderson (bass) and Cory Berry (drums), previously members of Radio Moscow, met Californian singer Elin Larsson while visiting Iowa. The trio quickly recorded two demo tracks, which they showcased on YouTube. The buzz surrounding these demos caught the attention of Crusher Records, leading to their first record deal. During a tour that took them to Spain and France, they crossed paths with 16-year-old guitarist Dorian Sorriaux, who soon joined the band, solidifying their lineup.
The band derives its name from a music blog called BluesPillz, created by their friend Jens Heide. The blog focused on obscure underground music from the '60s and '70s. In May 2012, they launched their EP Bliss, followed by the Black Smoke single in July. The year 2013 saw them tour extensively, participating in various festivals, including Desertfest in Berlin and Melbourne's Cherry Rock Festival.
The band's debut album, Blues Pills, quickly gained traction upon its July 2014 release. The special edition featured a DVD showcasing their performance at the previous year's Hammer of Doom festival. Shortly after the album's debut, drummer Cory Berry was replaced by André Kvarnström. Blues Pills performed at prestigious events, including the Sweden Rock Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival, further solidifying their reputation that summer.

The album's success was evident as it climbed to No. 4 on the German charts, reached No. 10 in Switzerland, and entered the UK charts at No. 68.

As 2015 turned to 2016, Blues Pills began crafting their sophomore album, culminating in Lady in Gold's announcement. Set to be released on August 5, 2016, through Nuclear Blast Records, the album features a ten-track setlist that fans eagerly anticipate. With its consistently evolving sound and dynamic performances, Blues Pills is poised to solidify its place in the rock landscape for years to come. Yet, beneath the heavy layers of psychedelic blues rock and Larsson's soulful, resonant vocals lies a deeper narrative marked by a relentless pursuit of change.

The band's musical evolution reflects a wide array of influences, from blackened soul to the psychedelic nuances of 60s garage rock and the raw intensity of the blues. Their latest album, Birthday, showcases the band's artistic evolution and offers a fresh sound that resonates with longtime fans and new listeners. This release marks a significant milestone, highlighting the group's creativity and commitment to their craft.
The Blues Pills are touring Greece and Romania before an appearance at The Åre Bike Festival, a mountain biking event in Åre, Sweden.
