Released on September 6, 2024, The Southern is the seventh album by The Cold Stares, a rock band from Evansville, Indiana. Known for their raw, bluesy sound, the band blends classic rock, Southern traditions, and storytelling into this album. It explores the band’s roots and what being Southern really means to them. The Cold Stares started in 2009 as a duo with Chris Tapp (guitar and vocals) and Brian Mullins (drums). In 2022, they added bassist Bryce Klueh, giving their music even more depth. They’ve always been loved for their mix of heavy riffs, bluesy vibes, and heartfelt lyrics.

This album dives into Southern culture, inspired by Tapp’s personal experiences and stories passed down through his family. It tells tales of old legends, crooked lawmen, and life in the South. The songs aren’t just about the place, they’re about the emotions, traditions, and struggles that come with it. The Southern has 11 songs on it that include "Horse To Water," "Coming Home," "Level Floor Blues," "Seven Ways to Sundown," "No Love in the City Anymore," and "Mortality Blues." This album has been very well received by fans everywhere.
