Deer Tick is a rock band from Providence, Rhode Island, known for their energy, heartfelt lyrics, and a sound that blends elements of folk, rock, and country. Founded in 2004 by singer-songwriter John McCauley, the band has grown into a tight-knit group that has captured the hearts of music fans with their authentic and often humorous approach to songwriting. The current line up for Deer Tick is as follows: John Joseph McCauley (lead vocals, guitar), Christopher Dale Ryan (bass, upright bass), Dennis Michael Ryan (drums), and Ian Patrick O'Neil (guitar).

It began with McCauley and former drummer Paul Marandola as a duo. They called themselves My Other Face. They played
gigs all around Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. After Paul's departure, John dropped the name My Other face and went off on a solo tour across America. John worked odd jobs while on this adventure and continued to tour the US with Miranda Stokes, Mandarin Dynasty and Nat Baldwin.

After all of that McCauley decided to create a real band. Deer Tick was born. The band released there debut album titled War Elephant in 2007. This album has 14 songs on it that include "Ashamed," "Standing at the Threshold," "Nevada," "These Old Shoes," "Christ Jesus," and "What Kind Of Fool Am I." This album drew attention from indie circles all around. In 2009, they released their next album titled Born On Flag Day. This album has 10 tracks on it that include "Easy," "Little White Lies," "Straight Into A Storm," "Hell On Earth," and "Stung." This album shows the bands ability to balance yet keep their same energy.

In 2010, Deer Tick released their next album titled The Black Dirt Sessions. This album has 11 songs on it that include "Choir Of Angels," "Twenty Miles," "The Sad Sun," "Mange," "When She Comes Home," "Blood Moon," and "Christ Jesus." This album showed the bands emotion and skills at story telling. The band released their album Divine Providence in 2011. This album has 12 tracks on it that include "The Bump," "Funny Word," "Main Street," "Chevy Express," "Electric," and "Miss K." This album showed a more rebellious side of the band.

Deer Tick Released their album titled Negativity. This album has 12 songs on it that include "The Rock," "The Curtain," "Mr. Sticks," "Trash," "Pot Of Gold," and "Big House." This album shows a return to their roots, with a focus on raw energy and garage rock influences. In 2017, the band released 2 albums titled Deer Tick Volume 1 and 2. These albums combined have 20 tracks on them.

In 2019, Deer Tick released their album titled Mayonnaise. This album has 13 songs on it that include "Bluesboy," "White City," "Run of the Mill," "Hey! Yeah!" "Memphis Choir," and "Cocktail." This album showed the bands songwriting skills and their diversity. The band released their album titled Emotional Contracts in 2023. This album has 10 tracks on it that include "If I Try to Leave," "Forgiving Ties," "Running From Love," "Once In A Life Time," "My Ship," and "The Real Thing." This album helped the band to continue to please fans everywhere! In 2024, the band released their latest album titled Contractual Obligations. This album has 8 songs on it that include "Wasting Time," "Big Black Horse," "Life Insurance," "On Fire," and "Goodbyes." This album has been well received by fans everywhere!

Deer Tick is famous for their lively and engaging live shows. Their performances are intense, with the band often experimenting and improvising on stage. The chemistry between band members is clear, making their shows a unique and unforgettable experience for fans.
