Kevin Morby is a musician who has steadily built a reputation for creating deeply personal, and often poetic music. His blend of folk, rock, and indie elements, combined with his distinct lyrical voice, has broght him critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. Kevin Robert Morby, born April 2, 1988, in Lubbock, Texas. His family moved to Kansas City due to his father's job with General Motors. He was exposed to a diverse musical landscape, from the classic rock of his parents' generation to the emerging indie rock scene of the 1990s. This mix would later become a cornerstone of his own sound.

Kevin had a love for New York City from movies he had watched while growing up. He decided to move there after he dropped out of school and got his GED at age 17. He found jobs at cafes and delivering on his bike. His musical career began with the indie rock band Woods, where he contributed as a guitarist and vocalist. He eventually left Woods and he and his roommate Cassie Ramone of Vivian Girls, formed The Babies. These experiences provided Morby with a solid foundation and connections in the indie music world. The Babies released an album in 2011 and another in 2012.

In 2012, Morby moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he and Cassie recorded their album Our House On The Hill. He then decided he wanted to pursue a solo career. In 2013, Kevin released his debut solo album titled Harlem River. Tis album has 8 tracks on it that include "Miles, Miles, Miles," "Wild Side (Oh the Places You'll Go)," "If You Leave and If You Marry," "Sucker in the Void (The Lone Mile)," and "The Dead They Don't Come Back." This album was inspired by his move to New York City and some of the experiences he had in the city. This record also quickly established him as a rising star in the indie music scene.

Kevin released his next album titled Still Life in 2014. This album has 10 songs on it that include "The Jester, The Tramp, & The Acrobat," "The Ballad of Arlo Jones," "Bloodsucker," "Parade," "Amen," and "Open Move." With its focus on themes of love, loss, and longing, the album resonated with a wide audience. In 2016, he released his next album titled Singing Saw. This album has 9 tracks on it that include "Cut Me Down," "I Have Been To The Mountain," "Drunk and On A Star," "Black Flowers," and "Water." This album was a bold statement, showcasing Morby's willingness to push the boundaries of his sound.

In 2017, he released his fourth album titled City Music. This album has 12 songs on it that include "Come To Me Now," "Crybaby," "Dry Your Eyes," "Flannery," "Caught in My Eye," "Pearly Gates," and "Downtown's Lights." This album has focus on catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Recorded with a live band, the album captured the energy of Morby's live performances. Kevin released his next album in 2019 titled Oh My God. This album is a bit longer with 14 tracks on it that include "No Halo," "Nothing Sacred/All Things Wild," "OMG Rock n Roll," "Storm (Beneath The Weather)," "I Want To Be Clean," "Sing A Glad Song," and "O Behold." This was a critically acclaimed album that explored themes of faith, doubt, and spirituality.

Morby released his next album titled Sundowner in 2020. There are 10 songs on this album that include "Valley," "Brother, Sister," "Wander," "Don't Underestimate Midwest American Sun," "Velvet Highway," and "Provisions." This album was recorded at his home studio in Kansas City. In 2022, Kevin released his seventh album titled This Is a Photograph. This album has 12 tracks on it that include "Intro," "A Random Act Of Kindness," "Disappearing," A Coat Of Butterflies," "Five Easy Pieces," "Goodbye To Good Times." This was a concept album inspired by a family tragedy, showcasing Morby's ability to transform personal pain into art.

In 2023, he released a soundtrack album to the movie Montana Story. This album has 13 songs on it that include "Exchange Of Keys," "Darkness Of Night," "One Paper Kid," and Copperhead." Also, released in 2023, More Photographs (A Continuum). This album has 9 tracks that include "Triumph," "Bittersweet, Tennessee," "Lion Tamer," "A Song For Katie," and "Kingdom Of Broken Hearts." This album is a continuation of his album This Is a Photograph and is his lasts release to date.

Morby's lyrics are often characterized by their poetic beauty and their ability to bring out strong emotions. He writes about love, loss, faith, and the search for meaning in a complicated world. His lyrics are often rooted in personal experience, but they also resonate with many other themes. Kevin Morby is renowned for his captivating live performances. His ability to connect with audiences on a deep level is evident in his energetic shows, which often feature extended and intimate storytelling. As his career continues to unfold, there is no doubt that Kevin Morby will remain a significant force in the world of indie rock for years to come.
