"Evolution of Jesse Welles: From Dead Indian to Solo Success"
Hello everyone, today we are talking about none other than Jesse Welles, the career and path of success of this incredible rock and roll artist. Jesse Welles was born in Arkansas sometime around 1994/1995. Better known as Welles, Jesse has been releasing music to the world since 2012.
Welles began with self-produced singles and EPs, releasing them on the Bandcamp platform and SoundCloud under the name Jeh Sea Wells. After that, he set his sights on putting together a new project. By the end of 2012, Welles met up with Dirk Porter and Simon Martin, forming the band Dead Indian. In 2014, they released two singles, “Summer” and “Xmas 97”.
Relocating in 2015 to Nashville, Tennessee, to record with Dave Cobb, a renowned producer who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, Welles released a cover of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box”. The band Dead Indian released two albums, “Lead Me To The Sky” and “When We Live”, followed by an EP. On July 21, 2015, a statement was issued announcing the disbanding of Dead Indian. The band's final performance took place on August 7th, 2015, at The Smoke & Barrel Tavern in their home state of Arkansas. Later that year, the band released a final collection of crowd favorite covers they had performed over the years.

This would not be the last time that Dead Indian drummer Simon Martin would take the stage with Welles. Joining up with Skyler Greene and Blake Foster to form the band Cosmic American, in April 2016 the band played three songs on Fayetteville public television broadcast. You can find these videos on YouTube. The band would be short-lived and broke up before finishing their first album, ending the band in July 2016.
Welles continued writing and recording music and began releasing music under the name Welles. Releasing a single to kick things off, in March of 2017, Welles put out “Life Like Mine” promoting his upcoming EP and Codeine. After that, Welles began working in the studio with Dave Cobb producing his debut studio album. In April 2018, Welles released a single “Rock N Roll” in promotion of the new album. Linking up with 300 Entertainment to release the album. “Red Trees and White Trashes” was released on June 15th, 2018, launching his career and receiving high praise from the press.
Over the next few years, Welles would hit the road touring and playing with exciting names and releasing more music. In 2019, he put out “3D Headphones Remixes,” an edgy hard-rocking EP, followed up by singles in 2021 “Danny’s Song” and “Hard Livin” in 2022. Welles' 2023 release of the single “If I Keep Drifting” has been seeing a boom in plays. Welles has seen a surge on social media sites and rebranded himself as Jesse Welles. He has released four singles so far, speaking to real issues in the United States in a folk-rock country style. Who knows what will come next for Jesse Welles? We will all be watching.
