"From Nashville: where the echoes of country legends linger, a different sound began to stir"

Today we discuss The Delta Saints, a band that emerged from the classrooms of Belmont University to the grand stages across the world. Formed in Nashville, Tennessee, the band has a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim for their unique sound and live shows. The Delta Saints was formed in 2007 by founding members Ben Ringel (lead vocals and guitar), Dylan Fitch (guitar), David Supica (bass), Ben Azzi (drums), and Stephen Hanner (harmonica). The band's formation was driven by a shared passion for blues and rock music, with a desire to create a sound that was authentic. They began by playing small venues and bars around Nashville, quickly building a reputation for their high-energy performances and musical skills.

It all started with a chance encounter between Ben Ringel and David Supica. Their shared passion for music and a vision for something raw and soulful led to late-night jam sessions, where the foundation of The Delta Saints was laid. They were soon joined by Dylan Fitch, Vincent Williams, and Nate Kremer, each bringing their unique flair to the mix. The Delta Saints' music is characterized by a blend of rock, blues, soul, and Southern rock. Their sound is often described as a fusion of old-school blues with modern rock elements. Key influences on their music include: My Morning Jacket, The Dead Weather, Ryan Adams, The Black Keys and Kendrick Lamar.

With their EPs “Pray On” and “A Bird Called Angola,” they captured the attention of music lovers who craved authenticity. Pray On was released in 2009. This debut EP introduced The Delta Saints to the world, showcasing their blues-rock roots with tracks like "Pray On" and "I feel Rain." In 2010, they released the EP A Bird Called Angola. This EP featured "Good In White" and "Swamp Groove."

Their European tour in 2011, was a winner, with a memorable performance on Germany’s Rockpalast marking their international breakthrough. In 2012, the band released Rockpalast "Live from Bonn, Germany" on DVD. The Delta Saints released their first full length album titled Death Letter Jubilee in 2013. This album has 13 songs that include "Liar," "Out To Sea," "Sing To Me," and "Jericho." Crowdfunding this album showed the world that their fans weren’t just listeners; they were believers.

In 2015, The Delta Saints released their album titled Bones. This album has 10 tracks on it that include "Sometimes I Worry," "Dust," "Into The Morning," and "Berlin." This album marked a departure from their earlier blues-centric sound, incorporating more rock and soul influences and highlighted their growing musical style. The album resonated with fans old and new, its tracks weaving stories that spoke of life’s gritty truths and beautiful lies.

The band released their third album Monte Vista in 2017. This album has 10 songs on it that include "Be With You (Burning Wheels)," "Roses," "Young And Crazy," and "Two Days." This album showcased their maturity as songwriters and musicians and received positive reviews for its rich production and diverse influences. In 2018, The Delta Saints released Live From The AB. This live album was recorded in Europe. It features songs like "Cigarette," "Heavy Hammer," "Drink It Slow," and "Be With You." They have toured extensively across the United States and Europe, earning a reputation as a must-see live act. Notable performances include appearances at major music festivals like Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival, and Summerfest.

Over the years, The Delta Saints evolved both musically and personally. Their sound expanded to include more rock and soul influences, and their songwriting became more introspective. Despite their success and growth, the band decided to go on an indefinite hiatus in 2018. This decision was influenced by a desire to pursue individual projects and personal growth. The Delta Saints were not just a band; they were storytellers whose tales were told through strings and keys, beats and vocals. They left behind a legacy of albums that continue to remind us that great music never fades; it just waits to be played again.
