"Still Rocking after more than 20 years is Dr. Dog" (New album dropping July 19,2024)"

Dr. Dog is an American rock band that has carved a niche for itself in the indie music scene with its diverse sound, awesome lyrics, and dynamic performances. Today we are discussing their history, musical style, and their impact on the music industry and its audience. Formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the early 2000s, the band has undergone a remarkable evolution, blending elements of rock, folk, psychedelic, and lo-fi to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

Dr. Dog's journey began in the late 1990s when childhood friends Scott McMicken (vocals, guitar) and Toby Leaman (vocals, bass guitar) started making music together while they were in eighth grade. Drawing inspiration from classic rock acts like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Big Star, as well as from indie rock pioneers like Pavement and Guided by Voices, McMicken and Leaman sharpened their songwriting skills and began performing at local venues.

In the early 2000s, they expanded their lineup to include drummer Ted Mark, guitarist Douglas O'Donnell, and keyboardist Zach Miller. This formation solidified the core of Dr. Dog, and they quickly gained a following with their energetic live shows and DIY tenor. Their self-released debut album, "Psychedelic Swamp," came out in 2001, followed by "Toothbrush" in 2002. Ted left the band in 2003 and was replaced by Justin Stens. Doug left in 2004. During this time, Dr. Dog mainly played in the Philly area and built a small fanbase.

Dr. Dog received so much attention after the release of their album Toothbrush and their album Easy Beat in 2004, they signed Parks The Van Records. They also toured all across the country in 2005. They continued to build their fan base by using the internet. The band continued their hard work to build their sound and songwriting skills and maximize their performances.

In 2007, the band released their next album titled We All Belong. To promote this album, they went on the Lat Show With David Letterman. The group released their next album titled Fate in 2008. To promote this album the band went on tour with Cave Singers and Golden Boots. Dr. Dog signed with Anti Records in 2009. With this new record label, the band released their next album titled Shame, Shame (Deluxe Edition) in 2010.

Dr, Dog released their next album titled Be The Void in 2012. This album was well received and further solidified Dr. Dog's reputation as one of indie rock's most creative acts. The band built a new studio in Clifton Heights, PA, and call it Mount Slippery. It was there that they created their next album titled B-Room that was released in 2013. This album had positive reviews and had a renewed sense of energy and purpose.

In 2015, the band released their first live album that was put together from more than 20 shows, while on tour for their B-Room album. It was titled Live at a Flamingo Hotel. Truly amazing. Dr. Dog then released the album Psychedelic Swamp in February 2016. The group changed record labels to We Buy Gold Records and released their next album titled Critical Equation in 2018. This album was well received and continued to build their fan base with streaming services.

Dr. Dog announced they were NOT disbanding but were retiring from touring in June 2021. The band said their fall tour throughout 31 cities in North America, would be their final tour. The band released two singles in 2024. One in March titled "Still Can't Believe" and "Talk Is Cheap" in April. They also announced their newest album titled Dr. Dog would be released on July 19, 2024.

Throughout their career, Dr. Dog has earned a dedicated fanbase and much praise from critics for their inventive songwriting, tight musicianship, and exciting live performances. They have toured extensively across the United States and around the world, sharing stages with acts like The Lumineers, The Black Keys, and Wilco.

We will continue to follow Dr. Dog and bring you any new updates as they become available.

Elliott BROOD

Elliott Brood, often stylized as Elliott BROOD, is a Canadian band formed in 2002. The band's inception can be traced back to the collaboration between Mark Sasso and Casey Laforet, who initially met at Humber College in Toronto. Their mutual interest in storytelling through music and a shared admiration for roots and folk music laid the foundation for what would become Elliott Brood. The band's name, Elliott Brood, is a pseudonym inspired by Sasso's fascination with the character Elliott from the film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and the word "brood," which conveys a sense of dark contemplation that often pervades their music.
