""With a soulful sound of blues and heart-pounding rock and roll from Dallas, Texas""

Today, we bring you Jonathan Tyler. He started a band with Brandon Pinckard, Nick Jay, and Jordan Cain in 2007 called Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights. Without wasting any time, and with the assistance of a local producer, Chris Bell, the trio went right to work on their first independent album titled Hot Trottin'. In May 2007, the band was no longer a trio after the addition of Emotion Brown.

On July 24, 2007, Hot Trottin' was released. This album had ten songs that include "Gypsy Woman," "She's From The Other Side," and "Sunshine." Tyler and the band continued to play at venues all around Dallas, Austin, Houston, and anywhere in between.

Jonathan and the Northern Lights were selected as supporting acts for many bands in 2008, including Deep Purple, The Black Crowes, Chicago, and Heart. While playing at SXSW in 2008, the band caught the interest of someone from Atlantic Records and soon after, they signed with F-Stop Music/Atlantic Records. During this time, Dallas Observer gave Jonathan and the band an award for "Best Blues Act."

While touring around the United States in 2009, with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, and AC/DC, the band found time to perform at many music festivals that include Austin City Limits Music Festival, Summerfest, and SXSW. Also, at the Dallas Observer Music Awards in 2009, the band received awards for "Best Group", "Best Male Vocalist", and "Best Blues Act". Tyler and the band were working on recording their first album after signing with F-Stop Music/Atlantic Records, titled Pardon Me.

Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights continued to tour in 2010. This time, they were touring with bands like ZZ Top and JJ Grey & MOFRO as well as many others. They released their album Pardon Me in April 2010. This album has eleven tracks that include "Young & Free," "Bright Energy," and "Ladybird."

The band seemed to be on the path to mainstream success until an issue arose between Jonathan and the label they were signed with. Per a Dallas Observer interview with Jonathan on December 29, 2022, it would appear that the label wanted the band to move toward a "bro-country" direction while Jonathan wanted to pursue a more folkier, more experimental avenue. This caused a five-year lull, from 2010-2015. In the meantime, the band members went on to pursue other interests.

However, in 2015, Jonathan released as a solo artist, the album Holy Smokes. This album was released under Timeless Echo Recordings on August 7, 2015. There are 11 songs on this album that include "Goin' Down To The City," "Honey Pie," and "Let It Out." Tyler also became a producer for other artists but still continues to pursue his solo career.

He was working on an album titled Underground Forever in 2019. Ironically, the album was completed in 2020 but with the Covid-19 pandemic was upon us, the album wasn't released until October 28, 2022. This album has ten songs that include "Hustlin'," "Movin' On," and "Moon And Stars."

Jonathan continues to tour and create music, and we are anxiously awaiting to see what he has in store for his fans as time goes on.
