"Choosing the independent path"

The Snuts began in 2015 with band members Jack Cochrane (vocals and guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar), Callum '29' Wilson (bass), and Jordan 'Joko' Mackay (drums). The Scottish indie rock band met during their school years and played music together. Some of their influences came from The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys, and Scottish Ned culture.

In 2016, the band released their debut demo "Glasgow." With the release of this demo, the band's fanbase grew in leaps and bounds. They also released the demos "Proper" and "Sing For Your Support" in 2016 as well. In June 2017, a self-produced EP demo titled The Matador was released. Two tracks on this EP were "Matador" and "What's Going On."

The single "Seasons" was released in June 2018 and was very well received by The Snuts' fans. In July, the band performed at Scotland's TRNSMT Festival at the King Tut's Stage. The Snuts released the single "Manhattan Project," which was produced by Dave McCracken, the following September. Parlophone Records Limited signed The Snuts to their label in November 2018.

The Snuts made their way to the United States to perform at the South By South West festival in Austin, Texas, in March of 2019. At this festival, the band performed their first single under Parlophone Records Limited, "All Your Friends," which was later released in May 2019. The Snuts would take the main stage this time at Scotland's TRNSMT Festival in July. The band played at the Reading and Leeds Festivals and also at Victorious Festival in August 2019. In September, The Snuts released their single "Maybe California," and in October, they released "Juan Belmonte," named after the Spanish bullfighter. Both singles were produced by Rich Costey.

In March 2020, the band released their album Mixtape. Songs from this album are "Fatboy Slim" and "Coffee & Cigarettes." There are nine tracks on this album. Mixtape was number 14 on the UK Albums Chart. This album topped the Scottish Albums Chart and also the UK Vinyl Albums Chart. "Elephants," the single produced by Tony Hoffer, was released in June 2020. The very day this song was released, it went straight to the top of Apple iTunes. September 2020 brought the release of "That's All It Is," which was used on the soundtrack for the video game FIFA 21. The single "Always" was also released in September and was the last song to go to number one on the Scottish Singles Chart as they stopped publishing in December 2020.

The Snuts released their album W.L in April 2021. This album included three songs from the Mixtape album and also four tracks that were never before released. This album has 10 songs on it, including their single released in February "Somebody Loves You." The Snuts with the release of their W.L. album was the first Scottish band to go to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart since 2007 when The View did it.

Touring was difficult as a result of the restrictions for Covid-19. By July's end in 2021, The Snuts were able to do a tour in the UK and a small tour in the US in October. The band also wrote their second album in July of 2021. "Burn The Empire," was the only single released in 2021.

Kings of Leon had The Snuts as their opening act during their When You See Yourself tour from June 28 to July 1, 2022. The band released another single from their album Burn The Empire titled "End of the Road," with the assistance of Rachel Chinouriri. On September 30, The Snuts released their album Burn The Empire, and it went to No. 3 on the UK Album Charts.

The Snuts opted not to renew their contract with Parlophone Records Limited but instead founded their independent label, naming it Happy Artist Records, with distributor The Orchard. They released their first single under their very own label, titled "Gloria," in May 2023.

Millennials, The Snuts' third album, was just recently released in February 2024. We are excited to see what the band accomplishes with their new independent label.
