"Underground rock and roll forever"

In 2014, two friends, Jonny Lani and Ben Reed, who had known each other since they were young kids, met up again and started the band Skegss as a duo. Jonny played drums, and Ben played guitar and vocals. The duo began playing gigs wherever they could find them. The duo expanded into a quartet when Noa Dean joined on guitar and Toby Cregan on bass. In July, Skegss released the single "L.S.D." Cregan explained the track's title, "The song is called 'L.S.D' but not like acid, more like Live. Sleep. Die." The band released their second single "Rock 'n' Roll" the following October.

The band became a trio when Noa decided to leave the band to pursue his surfing aspirations in April 2015. Skegss went on to tour North America, including California, New York City, and Toronto, before returning to Australia in June 2015. Upon the band's return, Ratbag Records, run by Brisbane-based surf musicians Dune Rats and distributed by Warner Music, signed Skegss to their label. "50 Push Ups for a Dollar" was Skegss' first album after signing with Ratbag Records. The band released the single "Fun" from the album in July 2015, but the album itself wasn't released until October 16, 2015.

In July 2016, Skegss released their next album "Everyone Is Good at Something." Tracks from this album include "Slayer," "My Face," and "New York California." This album was well-received, reaching No. 4 on the ARIA Hitseekers Albums Chart. Once again, not keeping their fans waiting, in December 2016, Skegss released the single "Spring Has Sprung," another well-received song by their loving fans!

In April 2017, the band released "Holiday Food." Later in the month, they decided to create a double EP by merging this album with "Everyone Is Good For Something." New tracks on this EP included "Got My Skateboard" and "Soaking It All In." Once again, Skegss' album on the ARIA Hitseekers Albums Chart reached No. 12. "Got My Skateboard" was released as a single and was very well-received, reaching No. 39 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2017.

Skegss released their debut album "My Own Mess" in September 2018. Songs from this release included "Up In The Clouds," "Margarita," and "Road Trip." This album was nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Rock Album, though they lost to Amyl and the Sniffers.

"Rehearsal" was the next studio album Skegss released in March 2021. This album featured 13 songs, and the band released 5 singles from it. These singles were "Down To Ride," "Fantasising," and "Bush TV." The album reached No. 1 on the ARIA Charts.

As of 2023, Skegss are once again a duo, as Toby Cregan left the band. Fans await the next fabulous music that the remaining duo, Jonny Lani and Ben Reed, will bring. We will be watching with excitement to see what comes next.
