"THE RISE OF INDEPENDENT ROCK band me like bees"
(Artist Report)
Joplin, Missouri- The home a indie inspiration.
, few stories resonate quite like that of Me Like Bees. Founded in 2009 by Pete Burton, a college dropout, and Luke Sheafer, a former gas station clerk, this dynamic duo forged their musical destiny from the echoes of the 2000s indie rock scene.
Me Like Bees ride began amidst the raw rock n roll sounds of bands like The Strokes, Modest Mouse, The White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand. For Sheafer, the pivotal moment arrived with the electrifying pulse of The White Stripes' "Ball and a Biscuit". "That’s the moment I decided that yeah, this music thing is what I want to do with my life," recalls Sheafer, encapsulating the fervor that fueled their creative fire.
The band's ascent was meteoric. Signing with Loveway Records, they unleashed their debut full-length album, The Ides, in 2013, marking their place in the indie rock pantheon. Their triumph at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands in 2014, besting 20,000 contenders, cemented their reputation, earning them a coveted spot on the iconic Vans Warped Tour.
Never resting, they joined forces with renowned producer John Feldmann for their EP There Will Be Time in 2016, showcasing a ripening sound. Yet it was in 2018 that they continued building on the bands sound, with songs like Feel The Heart, standing today as the bands most popular song on Spotify. Also in 2018 the band partnering with Image Comics and artist Jeremy Haun for the groundbreaking graphic novel-inspired EP, The Realm.

Through the years, Me Like Bees has evolved, weathering lineup changes with Burton and Sheafer as its steadfast pillars. Their current lineup boasts Jake Bennett on bass, whose path took him from tour merchandiser to bass virtuoso epitomizes the band's spirit of perseverance and adaptation. Recently, they welcomed drummer Ben Davis, whose leap from elementary school counselor to rhythmic savant underscores their magnetic pull and transformative nature of the band.
With each album, each tour, Me Like Bees continues to refine their sound and raise the bar of indie success. As they roll on, their buzz resonates with volume. The bands 2022 release of the album Disco Two Step brought the bands sound full circle with a rock sound is sure to move your bones.
The bands latest released was on January 2024. The single Stay Safe is a mellow indie rock vibe with with chill tones, this song makes a nice addition to the bands collection and gives hopes to the music world for a possible new album. Me Like Bees has been enjoying the road in 2024, touring and supporting the bands The Heavy Heavy and Post Sex Nachos. Enduring the travels with extreme weather and the many obstacles of the musical craft. It is undeniable this band let nothing stand in there way, they seemingly always rise to the occasion and give an incredible performance for their growing fan base.
We will continue to watch for any new releases. Thank you for reading with us.
