"Rock & Roll Revival: The Groove and Grit of Dirty Honey"

In the vast landscape of modern rock music, few bands have managed to capture the spirit and soul of classic rock while bringing fresh, contemporary energy quite like Dirty Honey. Formed in Los Angeles in 2017, this four-piece group has swiftly risen to prominence, attracting audiences with their impressive performances and timeless sound. We delve into the musical style, influences, achievements, and impact of Dirty Honey, exploring what sets them apart in today's music scene.

In 2017, Marc LaBelle (vocals), John Notto (guitar), Justin Smolian (bass), and Corey Coverstone (drums) got together in Los Angeles, CA, and formed the band Dirty Honey. The band's inception was marked by a shared vision to revive the heart and soul of rock 'n' roll that dominated the airwaves in the 1970s and 1980s. Their mutual passion for iconic bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and The Rolling Stones served as creative influences, inspiring them to create a sound that pays homage to their predecessors while forging a distinct identity of their own.

At the heart of Dirty Honey's appeal lies their signature blend of blues-infused rock, characterized by intense guitar riffs, gritty vocals, and catchy songs. Drawing inspiration from the blues masters of yesteryears and the hard rock titans of decades past, the band seamlessly fuses elements of classic and contemporary rock to create a sound that resonates with audiences across generations.

Notto's guitar work stands out as a driving force behind Dirty Honey's sound, one that is reminiscent of guitar legends like Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. LaBelle's fervent vocals add another layer of depth and emotion to their music. The rhythm section, anchored by Smolian's bass lines and Coverstone's drumming, provides a solid foundation that pushes the band's songs with relentless energy and groove.

In 2018, the band released a single "Fire Away". They went on to release a six-song EP in March 2019. Songs from this EP are "When I'm Gone," "Rolling 7s," and "Down The Road." Mark DiDia, a friend to the band and who also worked with Columbia Records, heard the song "When I am Gone" and became the manager of Dirty Honey. He used his connections he had and got the band opening acts for Slash (lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses). "When I'm Gone" also made it to #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs for airplay. The band opened for The Who in Grand Rapids, Michigan in May 2019.

In 2020, the band was nominated for the iHeartRadioMusicAwards "Best New Rock/Alternative Artist." Dirty Honey had planned to record their debut album in Australia, but due to the Covid-19 restrictions, Dirty Honey had to change their plans and record it in Henson Studios in Hollywood, California. They released their debut album titled "Dirty Honey" in April 2021. Tracks from this album include "California Dreamin'," "Take My Hand," and "Gypsy."

In 2022, Dirty Honey was the opening act for Kiss, Guns N' Roses, and Rival Sons on their first European tour. In the fall of 2022, the band also went on a North American tour opening for Dorothy and Mac Saturn. In November 2023, the band released their Album titled "Can't Find The Brakes." This album has 11 songs on it that include "Don't Put Out The Fire," "Won't Take Me Alive," "Get A Little High," and "Coming Home."

Elliott BROOD

Elliott Brood, often stylized as Elliott BROOD, is a Canadian band formed in 2002. The band's inception can be traced back to the collaboration between Mark Sasso and Casey Laforet, who initially met at Humber College in Toronto. Their mutual interest in storytelling through music and a shared admiration for roots and folk music laid the foundation for what would become Elliott Brood. The band's name, Elliott Brood, is a pseudonym inspired by Sasso's fascination with the character Elliott from the film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and the word "brood," which conveys a sense of dark contemplation that often pervades their music.
