Death from Above 1979 (DFA 1979), a Canadian rock duo, has left a lasting mark on the music scene since their formation in 2001. With bassist Jesse F. Keeler and drummer/vocalist Sebastien Grainger, the band has undergone many phases of growth, from their debut in the early 2000s to their recent releases in the 2020s. The duo's origins trace back to a jam session in 2001, following the cancellation of a planned concert. Their debut EP, "Heads Up," released in December 2002, marked the beginning of their progress in the world of music.

You're a Woman, I'm a Machine and Breakup (2004–2006)
In 2004, DFA 1979 released their debut album, "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine," in 2004 garnered critical acclaim. From this album the band released three singles, "Romantic Rights" on November 4, 2004, "Blood on Our Hands" on February 17, 2005, and "Black History Month" on June 13, 2005 that they wanted to be promoted.
“Romantic Rights” won a VideoFACT award in 2005 at the MuchMusic Video Music Awards.

In 2006, Death from Above thought they had achieved everything they had set out to do after their album went gold in their native Canada and decided now was the time to move on to new adventures seperately and see what other opputunities were out there.

After a five year break, DFA 1979 reunited in 2011. Their second album, "The Physical World," released in 2014, showcased their resilience and musical talent. Songs from this album include, "Cheap Talk", "Crystal Ball" and "Right On, Frankenstein. The band continued to evolve, experimenting with new sounds and captivating audiences worldwide.

A live album " Live At Third Man Records" was released on April 22, 2016. Some of the songs recorded on this live album were "Virgins", "Going Steady and "Gemini". The live recording of this was done at Jack White's Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville.

The year 2017 brought the release of the album "Outrage! Is Now". This album has 10 songs on it which include the songs "Nomad", "Freezw Me" and the title of the album "Outrage! Is Now".

Reaffirming their enduring legacy in the rock genre, the band returns with the release of the album "Is 4 Lovers" on March 26. 2021. With this album release, this album include songs such as "Modern Guy", "One + One", "Totaly Wiped Out" and "Glass Homes".

DFA 1979's musical style of Rock and Roll is alive! From their early days of gritty synths and hardcore elements to their more recent experimental sounds, the band has continually pushed boundaries, earning praise for their raw energy and distinctive sound.
