Benjamin Booker

Raw and edgy punk rock blues.

New Orleans guitarist Benjamin Booker, a rising star in the blues and punk music scene, has been making waves with his unique blend of postwar electric blues and garage punk. Booker's self-titled debut album, released in August 2014 on ATO Records, showcased his raw talent and was produced by Andrija Tokic, known for his work with Alabama Shakes. The album's success led to a series of tours, including a memorable jam session with Jack White in tribute to blues legend Lead Belly.

Although Booker's rapid ascent may seem like an overnight success, the truth is that he had been honing his craft for some time. After stints in Gainesville and New Orleans, the Tampa Bay native returned to Florida and formed a duo with drummer Max Norton, performing as Booker & Norton. This collaboration caught the attention of ATO Records, resulting in Booker signing as a solo artist while still working closely with Norton and Tokic in the studio. Benjamin Booker, the album that followed, was released a few months after its recording and received critical acclaim.

In early 2015, Jack White's label, Third Man Records, hosted and released Booker's live concert album, further solidifying his growing reputation. Seeking fresh inspiration for his songwriting, Booker spent time living in Mexico City in 2016. It was during this period that he penned much of the material for his next album, Witness. Released in the summer of 2017, Witness featured a collaboration with Mavis Staples.

Rumor has it,  Benjamin Booker has been plotting a return to the music world. No one can truly say, so far it is all been debunked as rumors. But there has been a recent change of profile picture on Benjamin Booker's artist account Social Media platform facebook.  I hopes can only remain high.
