"New Album "head and the habit" coming soon"

From Borlänge, Sweden, we bring to your attention the hard-rocking band Green Leaf. Releasing their newest single this past month on March 26th, 2024, "Breathe Breathe Out" is yet another great piece of work from Greenleaf.

The band got its start as a side project of guitarist Tommi Holappa of the band Dozer and Daniel Lidén of Demon Cleaner. Holappa and Lidén had been having a few drinks at a dive bar in their hometown when the conversation started about their shared love for classic rock culture, sparking the idea for a new band with a darker rock and roll sound. In an interview, Tommi expressed eagerness to explore the freedom and creativity of rock and roll. In late 1999, Green Leaf was officially created, beginning with the lineup of Tommi Holappa, Daniel Lidén, and Bengt Bäcke. In 2000, the band released its self-titled EP, followed by Green Leaf’s first album, "Revolution Rock." Over the next two decades, the lineup would often change, with Tommi Holappa being the only remaining original member.

The Green Leaf crew continued to record and tour with their primary projects, fulfilling prior commitments. Meanwhile, the album "Revolution Rock" fell into the hands of Scott Hamilton, founder of the Detroit-based label Small Stones Recordings. He fell in love with the dark rock and roll sounds of Green Leaf, and in 2003, he signed the band to a multi-album deal. On August 19th, 2003, the band released their label debut, "Secret Alphabets," gaining press attention in the U.S. After returning home, the crew left Greenleaf and went back to work on their primary bands, assisting in festival performances and hitting small venue gigs with Green Leaf when it fit the schedule.

The world would not hear from Green Leaf for some time; however, they came back around in 2007, this time with some big changes in the crew. They emerged from the studio with the album "Agents Of Ahriman," which received praise from the press and caught traction in the metal community. The band's brand of rock hit the right ears to send them on a proper tour. Undoubtedly, the buzz began to grow around the band, and by 2010, Holappa and Bäcke made Greenleaf their full-time project, recruiting new members from the past band Dozer. Holappa created a new branding campaign, and with that, the new version of Greenleaf began touring and writing new material. Coming off the road and straight into the studio to cut a new album with Daniel Lidén engineering and mixing, by 2012, the band released "Nest Of Vipers." This effort paid off, with "Stray Bullet Woman" becoming their most popular song. The album received a great deal of attention in the Swedish press, calling Greenleaf an influential band in the Swedish hard rock scene.

This time things didn’t stop or slow down. Greenleaf spent two years touring and working on a new album. In 2014, they revealed "Trails and Passes." The title track of this album currently sits as the band's second song to hit millions of plays. Immediately after the release of "Trails and Passes," the band embarked on a full year of touring. The band's reputation had reached a new high, and with that came larger opportunities, as Tommi Holappa signed with Napalm Records for the release of the band's next album. Shortly after Greenleaf returned from tour, Bäcke left the band, quickly filling the position with returning member Johan Rockner. The ever-changing crew would go on to record the band's fifth studio album, working with Lidén as producer and engineer. On February 26th, 2016, Greenleaf released "Above The Meadow," Tommi’s creative blend of rock exploding, sending the band on the rise, beginning to pack festival crowds and sell out shows in new cities.

In 2018, the band's lineup would change again, leaving the door open for Hans Fröhlich and Arvid Hällagård to join the band, completing what stands as the current lineup with Sebastian Olsson and the great Tommi Holappa. The crew went to work in Lidén’s studio on the album "Hear the River." In November 2018, the band released their work, launching the band to new stages across Europe.

The band set out on another incredible tour path and stayed on the road for the entire year of 2019. Throughout 2020, the band wrote separately, and in October, they headed into Gröndahl studio to work with Lidén on another album. In ten days, the band finished ten songs. Lidén mixed and mastered the record at Tri-Lamb Studios, and it was released by Napalm in March 2021. Greenleaf returned to the road, and fast forward to 2024, The band has been playing massive tour stops like Sonic Blast and other big events.

On March 26th, Greenleaf released a single titled “Breathe, Breathe Out," announcing new album "The Head and the Habit" coming soon! We believe this is the start of a new era of Greenleaf.
