"From the Quiet Shores of Metchosin to Center Stage"

When Jesse was five years old, he would watch his father play guitar on the back porch of their home in the picturesque rural community of Metchosin, British Columbia, where Jesse was born and raised. One day, he told his Dad he wanted to play the guitar, and that's where it began. While Jesse strummed, his Dad would play the chords. When Jesse was 6, his Dad bought him his very own guitar. Through the years, he continued to practice and play his guitar but had no desire to play in a band due to his shyness and fear of performing in public.

After working as a painter for 8 years, Jesse found that he was doing "busy work" but was not happy and decided to venture into a solo music career in 2009. Later, he formed The Roper Show with bassist Matt Reid and drummer Steve Ling. On July 25, 2013, they released the album Son Of John. Songs from this album include "Hail Mary," "Yukon Girl," and "I Ain't Ready." The Roper Show released "Hail Mary" as a single, which ended up being very popular on local radio stations. They also released a music video for "Yukon Girl" that was very well-received on YouTube.

Red Bird was Jesse's next album, which was released on January 23, 2015. A few songs from this album are "Red Bird," "Little Gold Nugget," "Fool In Love," and "Quality Time." This album has 12 songs on it. Jesse released this album to a packed nightclub called Sugar Nightclub in Victoria, BC. Red Bird was so well-received that it was nominated for a Best Blues award at the 2015 Western Canadian Music Awards event.

On February 2, 2018, Roper released his third album, Access to Infinity. This album has 11 songs, which include "The Mission," "That Girl," and "Goldeneye." He also released an EP in 2018 called Gotta Have It. Then in 2020, Jesse released a single, "Driving East."

Jesse's next album, Horizons, was released on September 30, 2022. This album is a bit longer than the others with 13 tracks that include "Does Anybody Know," "Cool Whip," and "Who My Little Lady." With this album, you get a mixture of a vintage '70s sound of acoustic rock and funk, Rhythm & Blues, and some modern soulfulness as well. In 2023, there were three singles released titled "Make It All Work Out," "Throw This Rope," and "Trash Can."

Now here we are in 2024, and Jesse has released his latest single, "Suntan Woman." He is also touring around America throughout April and May. The dates and venues can be found on Jesse's official music page. We are excited to see what other new songs he might release this year. One thing we know for sure, the future looks very bright for Jesse!
