Bass Drum Of Death

A Trip Through the Power of Pure Rock and Roll

Get ready for a serious SoundWave,  because  today we're diving into the world of Bass Drum of Death. This band has been making waves since 2008 when frontman John Barrett formed it as a one-man-band, skillfully playing the bass drum and guitar. Talk about multi-talented!

Hailing from the music-rich city of Oxford, Mississippi, they spent years captivating audiences in their local scene before Barrett decided to take on the Big Apple. And let me tell you, their infectious sound couldn't be contained within state borders. They've taken their talents on the road, touring extensively across the United States and Europe. In fact, they even rocked out in Brazil in 2014, giving fans worldwide a taste of their high-energy performances.

They've got quite the discography under their belt as well. Bass Drum of Death's debut LP, "GB City," dropped in 2011 courtesy of Fat Possum Records, with Inflated Records handling the vinyl edition. That album propelled them into the spotlight and solidified their place in the music world.

The band has continued to make waves, performing at renowned festivals like Rock en Seine in France and even gracing the airwaves of Triple J, Australia's alternative music radio station. Talk about leaving an international mark!

After signing with Innovative Leisure Records in 2013, they released two full-length albums in consecutive years. The self-titled album in 2013 and "Rip This" in 2014, featuring drummer Len Clark joining forces with the band.

Now, every great journey has its ups and downs, and Bass Drum of Death hasn't been exempt from that rollercoaster ride. In 2015, they announced a hiatus due to personal reasons, leaving fans wondering about their future. But fear not! They made a triumphant return at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia in 2015, reminding everyone that the show must go on.

2018 saw the release of their fourth album, "Just Business," a testament to their dedication and passion for their craft. And they didn't stop there. They followed it up with a 7-inch single, "Too Cold to Hold" / "Wait," collaborating with none other than John Barrett's younger brother, Jim Barrett. Talk about keeping it in the family!

But now, it's time to get excited because Bass Drum of Death is back with their fifth studio album, "Say I Won't." Returning to Fat Possum Records, the label that kickstarted their journey, they're ready to unleash their latest creation on January 27, 2023. And they've already given us a taste with the release of the single "Say Your Prayers" that has fans eagerly anticipating what's to come.

So buckle up, music lovers, because Bass Drum of Death is bringing the heat, the energy, and the pure rock and roll spirit with "Say I Won't." Get ready to crank up the volume and let the music take you on an unforgettable ride.
